Willy’s Caribbean Steelband General Willy’s Caribbean Steelband is a dynamic band that will crown any event. The band specializes not only in south American music, but also in soca, merengue, reggae, ballets and the top 40. Background The band was formed around Willy Richardson , who has been playing the steel drum since the age of 12and comes from a very musical family. His father, for example, is a familiar figure in the Dutch steel drum world, where he has already won a number of big prizes. The biggest was first prize in the Caribbean pop festival in Amsterdam. Among the people Willy’s Caribbean Steelband has played for is former US President George Bush. Willy’s Caribbean Steelband also accompanied Billy Ocean when he appeared on a quiz show in the Netherlands.
